It's Not About Perfection—It's About Devotion
Apr 01, 2025
Let me just say this upfront: I’ve been sending emails with the wrong links, forgetting things I never used to forget, making typos I’d normally catch in a heartbeat—and yes, sending entire emails… without the links altogether (I know, I know—so sorry!).
But here’s what’s been whispering through all the chaos, the foggy thinking, and the frustration:
It’s not about perfection. It’s about devotion.
I’m currently in recovery from a car accident. And while I’m incredibly grateful to be here—alive, breathing, slowly rebuilding—I'm also walking through this very human process of healing. My cognition isn’t as sharp as it used to be. My body doesn't move the same way. And truthfully, some days I feel like I’m crawling through the fog just trying to find the thread of what I was saying mid-sentence.
And yet—my heart has never been more devoted. My soul has never been more aligned with my purpose.
There’s a great lie that says if it’s not perfect, it’s not worthy. If you mess up, if you send the wrong thing, if you drop the ball, if you look scattered—it must mean you’re not aligned, or worse, that you’ve failed.
But that’s not how devotion works.
We live in a material world of duality—a world where there are always shadows dancing beside the light, where form is ever-changing, where our humanness gets messy and our systems glitch. But we are not here to embody flawless performance. We are here to refine the energetic current flowing through us. That current is devotion—the creative force of the Divine moving through our hearts and our intentions.
We can strive for perfection in the cultivation of our heart—
...in how we choose love when it would be easier to withdraw.
...in how we forgive even when pain still lingers.
...in how we show up honestly, vulnerably, as we are, without the mask.
We can strive for perfection in our devotional energy—how we choose to stay aligned with what is sacred, even in our mess.
Even in our forgetfulness.
Even when we click “send” and realize we forgot the most important part of the message (again).
Because in those moments, I hear that quiet voice rise up.
Not one of shame. Not of scolding. But of truth.
“It’s not about perfection. It’s about devotion.”
And suddenly, the pressure lifts.
When we hold ourselves to impossible standards of flawless execution in a world of impermanence and polarity, we block the Divine’s unexpected invitations.
Mistakes—believe it or not—are often portals.
They humble us. They open new conversations. They reroute us to something more beautiful than we could have planned.
So if you’ve ever found yourself holding back your gifts, your voice, your light because you’re afraid it won’t be perfect—please hear this from someone deep in the recovery process, fumbling forward with grace:
It doesn’t need to be perfect to be holy.
Your love is enough. Your sincerity is enough. Your heart’s offering is enough.
And if you ever feel like you’re not—come sit with me in this gentle knowing:
God isn’t waiting for perfection.
God is watching for your yes.
A Loving Challenge for the Week:
Where are you holding yourself back because you’re waiting to “get it right”?
What would shift if you let devotion lead instead of perfection?
💌 I’d love to hear from you in the comments or in reply—what spoke to your heart? And how are you choosing devotion this week?
With all my imperfect love,
Shanti
P.S. If you ever get an email from me missing a link or with a typo… just know it was sent with a full heart and a lot of prayer 😉
